Pauline Fisk has been writing novels for children and young people for many years. Many of them, including her Smarties Award-winning 'Midnight Blue', are rooted in the region in which she lives - the border Marches between England and Wales, with their rolling hills, wide green vistas, ancient towns and fascinating history and mythology. She came to this region as a young writer and it has inspired her ever since.
Pauline is a great believer in the power of dreaming big and daring to unleash one's imagination. About daring to change, and to take risks. In 2008 she trekked in the jungles of Belize, researching for a novel about the gap year experience to be called 'In the Trees'. She also made her first hot air balloon flight for the novel 'Flying for Frankie'.
Pauline says, 'When I'm asked to summarize my books, I say they're all about hope. About having the courage to hope, often against impossible odds. I'm a great believer in the human spirit and what it can achieve.'
